Team Sahlen had a great start to the ROLEX weekend at Laguna Seca. The lap times were very much improved over last year, with session 1 being 10th place, session 2 placed in 7th, Akin/Trueman a fine 6th place, then in qualifying, Joe Nonnamaker slotted in 11th place, and for good measure 10th place in the warm up
At the start, both cars stayed out of trouble, with Joe Nonnamaker running in the top 10 at the 1 hour mark. Then several heat related issues surfaced on both the #42 & #43 Corvettes at the very same time in the race.
But never ones to give, the Team Sahlen continued to push forward. And both Corvettes got back on track. In the end, #42 & #43 were scored in 14th and 16th position respectively.
"I was a very busy weekend. We learned a lot. And we had some learning experiences with setting up the car for this track with the changes we have made over the winter. It would have been nice to have had a better finishing position, but the mood of the team is all positive with the increased pace we have found for future events." - states Will Nonnamaker
The next event for Team Sahlen will be the Sahlen's 6 Hours at the Glen on June 5th and 6th. The KONI event will be Friday night and the 6 Hour ROLEX event will be held on Saturday.
