As the team prepares for today's Koni Challenge race, the Team Sahlen Mazda RX-8 scored a top ten starting spot and the top Mazda RX-8 qualifying spot.
Joe Sahlen placed the #43 Mazda RX-8 in tenth spot at a 1:35.574. The pole went for a 1:34.468, putting the team's car just a little over a second off the top spot.
"We have a car that we feel is really good over the long haul," commented Sahlen's co-driver Will Nonnamaker. "The weather is looking to be cold today with a strong chance of rain. Hopefully the rain will hold off as we are feeling good with the feel of our car. We aren't able to match the front running cars for outright speed, but feel through good strategy and a clean race we can have a good finish."
The race will start at 3:00 PM on Saturday May 2nd.
