The long lay off from Round 1 to Round 2 of the KONI Challenge series is finally over. It has been since the January event that the KONI race cars last raced on the track. This weekend at the Lime Rock Memorial Day weekend, the Street Tuner KONI Challenge Series will take to the track on Saturday. There are 50 entries for the event, that includes the #43 Team Sahlen Mazda RX-8 entry. Driving the #43 will be Joe Sahlen and Will Nonnamaker.
"We are looking forward to this race. With 50 entries, traffic management and pit stop strategy will be key factors in the end result." - states Joe Sahlen
"The Daytona event was a great run. Unfortunately, we were two laps short on fuel. We were very competitive from the start of the weekend, and showed the pace to run up front, running in the top 10 all day. Hopefully that transfers over to the Lime Rock weekend. We finished 16th in last year's event with the Dodge, and this track certainly suits the Mazda much better." - states Will Nonnamaker
Team Sahlen will be campaigning the #43 Mazda RX-8 in 7 of the 10 events of the 2008 KONI series. The next event after Lime Rock will be the Mid-Ohio event in June.
