Team Sahlen left the November Test Days with high hopes. The HRPWorld.com Corvettes had performed well. Several new parts had been tested. But the ultimate test would come at the January Test Days when Team Sahlen would be able to put all that was learned into one solid package.
Entering both the #42 and #43 HRPWorld.com Corvettes for the January Test Days, Team Sahlen hoped to have the opportunity to test various new parts while still providing the drivers with plenty track time.
The weekend progressed well, with each session getting better and better. In session #4, the #43 posted a time of 1:52:66. Then in session #5, that time was backed up with an even stronger 1:52.18. This time placed Team Sahlen less than one second off of the fastest times of the 8 sessions of the weekend.
"We are very happy with the progress. Lots of competitors come down and work to set an ultimate lap by putting new tires and low fuel. Although we were trying hard, our time was a time that we can run in the race. This is very exciting and bodes well for the race." - states Wayne Nonnamaker
Reliability was also strong with the HRPWorld.com Corvettes. Several items were tested. Additionally, Team Sahlen learned some different ways to increase the reliability for the full 24 Hour event.
" We are excited by the speed we were able to achieve. But the most important aspect to the a 24 hour race is turning laps on the track, and not sitting in the pits. I am proud of our crew. They worked hard this fall, and it showed on the track. Now we have to dig in and get ready for the ROLEX 24 at the end of the month." - states crew chief Mike Thomas
