Team Sahlen entered the Mexico City weekend only four short weeks after the ROLEX 24 of Daytona. Although this was a short amount of time, the Team Sahlen crew worked feverishly to not only rebuild the HRPWorld.com Corvettes, but further develop the new race cars.
Each session out at Mexico, Team Sahlen was learning more and more.
This effort paid off with considerable improvement in the Team Sahlen's performance, cumulating in the Saturday morning warm up. Team Sahlen's #42 HRPWorld.com Corvette posted the 8th fastest time, less than a second off the fastest time of the session.
"To make as much progress as we did in a very tight compact weekend was fantastic. We are still learning and developing the Corvette. Posting the 8th fastest time in warm up gave everyone on the team a lot of satisfaction for the hard work we put in over the last 4 weeks." - states Mike Thomas, Team Sahlen Crew Chief
In the race, more mechanical teething issues arose. The Team Sahlen drivers and crew didn't let this set back deter them. The race was utilized as a test session, and many items were solved, in preparation for round 3 at Homestead.
"We came into the weekend with specific goals. The reality of working through the mechanical issues were to be expected. But our increase in pace to the front runners was satisfying. Now we can hardly wait to get to Homestead to continue on with our development."
