After a fantastic event at Mid-Ohio, USFilter - Planet Earth Motorsports driver Will Nonnamaker moved up to the lead in the Grand Am Cup Compact Class. Will finished in 1st place along with starting driver Mike Fitzgerald in the Comptech Sport Acura Integra GSR. Will is now 2 points ahead of Pete Halsmer of HART Honda - the 2000 Compact Championship team.
"Iron Man" Mike also finished the #41 racer in 3rd place for starter Wayne Nonnamaker. The team's #43 racer finished in a fine 4th place with Don Velcio and Gator Mitchell driving.
"The team has worked so hard to get here at halfway into the season. We know there is a long way to go before this is all over in Daytona. Its great to have the support of Acura, US Filter, Comptech Sport and Orison Marketing L.L.C. this season. Their faith in us a the start of the season has made all the difference. Each race we get to the track and test, test, test. We try new things on the cars, looking for that edge."

Will won the 1999 Motorola Cup Touring Class Championship with his brother Wayne. He was also the 1996 IMSA Endurance Championship Rising Star. At 29, Will is no longer one of the young guns in the series. He will be the first though to tell you that there is still a lot to learn.
"Every year I race, its seems like there is something new to learn. It's more than just going out and driving. There is a whole mental aspect of race strategy, tire conservation, and traffic management. And then off the track, there is the focus of corporate promotions, team organization, chassis set-up, etc. Its really like being a part of a big movie production instead of just one driver out on the track," concludes Will Nonnamaker.
