Posted (01/16/2003) - Will Nonnamaker was recently featured on the Grand American home page as he attempts to three-peat in the Sports Touring II division. The following is the article as it appeared on the Grand Am site:

Daytona Beach, FL -- When Will Nonnamaker takes to Daytona International Speedway for the Grand-Am Cup Series Daytona 250, Jan. 31, he will begin his quest for a third-straight Sport Touring II driver championship.

After picking up the championship in Grand-Am Cup's inaugural season, Nonnamaker repeated his success in 2002, this time sharing the honor with his younger brother Wayne. However, this season the junior of the Nonnamaker brothers has moved into the Grand Sport II class, leaving Will to defend the title on his own.

In his quest for a third-straight championship he will pilot the HRPworld.com #43 Acura Integra LS with a co-driver that has yet to be announced. "I can't say who it is. All I can say is that it is a former champion. We'll make the announcement the Thursday of the race," said Nonnamaker.

Nonnamaker will need a strong co-driver to fend off the threat of Bob Beede in the #27 Acura Integra LS of Bill Fenton Motorsports. After scoring five class victories last season, more than any other driver in the class, Beede was nine points shy of the championship when the checkered flag fell at the Finale. He will return to the #27 car this season, with co-drivers Bill Fenton and Mike Liebl, in hopes of kicking off the season by repeating as the class victors in the Daytona 250.

WTF Engineering is back in the ST II class this season with its #48 Chevy Cavalier Z24. Ed Magner and Caroline Wright will pilot the Chevy in the season opener. Also returning to the class is the #76 Mazda Protégé of ICY/SL Motorsports with David Rosenblum and Steven Lisa at the wheel.

New to the ST II class in 2003 is driver Mark Swain. After running in the Sport Touring I class sporadically in 2002, Swain has committed to run the entire season in the HRPworld.com #42 Acura Integra LS.

The Grand-Am Cup Daytona 250 will be part of the 41st Rolex 24 At Daytona event weekend at Daytona International Speedway, Jan. 30 - Feb. 2. Tickets are currently on sale for the 41st Rolex 24 At Daytona and may be purchased by calling the Speedway ticket office at 386-253-RACE.
