Team Sahlen, presented by honeybeeBase.com,  is excited to announce the recent signing of Patrick Emerling to drive for the team in the upcoming Sports Car Endurance Event at Pittsburgh International Race Complex.

Patrick Emerling recently secured his 1st NASCAR win by coming home victorious at the Whelen Modified race at Bristol.  The race was held on the Wednesday before the NASCAR Monster Energy Drink race.  The Orchard Park, N.Y. native won the day as he was fastest in practice and also won his third career pole award during qualifying for the 9th annual race at the .533-mile track.

Patrick shared his thoughts after the Bristol event - “This (win) is just incredible for us and our team. We unloaded the car today and was fast from the get-go and we also had a fast car last year. We kept everything the same and showed up with the identical set-up as last year.”

Patrick will be driving Team Sahlen’s #941 “Charcoal” Mazda RX7 in the ChumpCar World Series Pittsburgh Grand Prix to be held at Pittsburgh International Race Complex.  This type of event will be a new experience for Patrick, as he is most familiar with sprint based races on ovals.  Instead of short sprint races, the ChumpCar races will be 8 hours on Saturday and 7 Hours on Sunday.  Additionally, unlike an oval that turns only left, Pittsburgh International Race Complex is a Road Course with both left and right turns going up and down hill.

Joe Sahlen shared his excitement of having Patrick Emerling join Team Sahlen – “We are very excited to extend our relationship with Patrick Emerling.  Sahlen’s partnered with Patrick for his recent victory at Bristol.  Team Sahlen has had some very good young drivers race with us through the years as they progressed up the racing ladder.  Dane Cameron, James Jakes, and Eric Lux are just a few that come to mind.  I know that Patrick will be a fine addition to our driver line up and I am excited to see him continue to gain some road racing experience.”

Team Manager Tim Weyer shared his thoughts on having Patrick on the team – “We are excited to have Patrick joining our team for the upcoming ChumpCar event.  His Modified victory at Bristol has certainly shown his ability to win at a very high level in some very fast race cars.  I am sure he will adjust very quickly to our Rotary Rockets and be turning quick laps in no time.”

The ChumpCar World Series Pittsburgh Grand Prix will be on October 7th and 8th.  Live Timing and Scoring can be viewed at this link:
