< Back to News Home Barber Motorsports Park a BIG Test of Team Sahlen's progress with Daytona Prototypes

Posted (04/01/2013) -

Team Sahlen completed the 2nd round of the 2013 ROLEX season at the Circuit of the Americas with their 2nd straight Top 10 finish.  The results so far this year have been a 9th at the ROLEX 24 and then an 8th at the Circuit of the Americas.

“You can’t contend for Top 5 finishes and even podiums until you can be a consistent Top 10 threat.  We have laid down the foundation after the 1st two races that we can run with the lead back and the net out Top 10 results.  For Barber, we hope to take that next jump into the Top 5.  We know it won’t be easy, but everyone on the team is working to get us there.” – shared Wayne Nonnamaker

Dane Cameron shared his thoughts as well – “Barber should be good weekend for us, I think we can start to put together all the pieces and have a strong showing. It is always a tough race as it can be hard to overtake so starting up front and staying up front will be the goal.”

Also racing this weekend for Team Sahlen will be the father and son duo of Joe & Will Nonnamaker.  Having finished in the Top 15 in the 1st 2 events, this duo too hopes to step up this weekend and challenge for that elusive Top 10 result.

“We spent considerable time at the Circuit of the Americas Test working to ensure our Paddle Shifter system worked.  Now that we have worked out the bugs, Will and I should get maximum track time on test days to set us up well for the entire race weekend.” – shared Joe Nonnamaker

Added Will Nonnamaker - “For Dad and I, the Circuit of the Americas weekend became just one big extended Track Day event.  We learned a lot about driving the car, but the results were not there to show for the efforts due to the Paddle Shifter, Power Steering and other issues that confounded us all weekend long.  I am looking forward to this weekend, to have a trouble free event and see what it brings us.”

Porsche 250 at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama will be a 2 hour event.  The race will be televised live on April 7th at 5:30 pm est. on SPEEDTV.
