The ROLEX November Test Days at Daytona International Speedway will be the 1st Public Outing for Team Sahlen’s Daytona Prototypes.
Leading up to this public test, Team Sahlen has been busy this fall getting prepared. This has included a ½ day shakedown for both the #42 & #43 at Carolina Motorsports Park. Then there was a 3 day test at Mid-Ohio with the #43, where all 5 Team Sahlen drivers had a chance to get behind the wheel. Except for Dane Cameron, this was 1st time for Joe Sahlen, Joe Nonnamaker, Wayne Nonnamaker and Will Nonnamaker to have ever driven a Daytona Prototype.
Leading up to November test at Daytona, the Team Sahlen crew has been working non-stop to get everything ready. This includes conducting the initial motor install in both DPs. And for the #42 this install occurring just the week before the Daytona Test.
“It has been a busy past month for the crew. They have been working all out to get everything ready. There is so much to learn when switching from the GT class to Daytona Prototypes. Everyone wants to be in fine form come the ROLEX 24 Hours at Daytona. And the only way we can get there is if everyone focuses hard and covers the bases on their specific tasks and assignments. I know personally, it has been a fun time in learning so many new details that comes with campaigning a Daytona Prototype.” – shared Team Manager Jay Chapman
Added Dane Cameron – “I'm looking forward to our first public outing with the DP's. the second car should be up and running so I can't wait to pound out some miles and run through a bunch of changes and learn more about these cars. This will be an important test from a development standpoint, the pace is sort of irrelevant, but Katie and I just need to know what does what as we come up to speed. I love testing so the more laps for booth cars the better!”
At the November Test at Daytona, the Team Sahlen Daytona Prototypes will still be in basic neutral colors, sans any formal paint scheme/decals applied. But that doesn’t mean that the Team Sahlen race cars will just be plain. #42 will be white with black decals. And additionally, the #43 will be black with white decals. This graphic contrast between the two BMW – Rileys will be further played out with some cleverly placed Mad Magazine “Spy vs Spy” decals on the sides of each racer
