For the 2^nd year in a row, Team Sahlen is the Top Entrant in the Grand American ROLEX Sports Car Series.  This year’s marker of entries was 31 out of 13 events on the 2012 Calendar by Team Sahlen.  In 2011, Team Sahlen achieved 32 entries in 12 events. 

In total, Team Sahlen has achieved the Top Entrant mark a total of 6 times in the series that has been competed within: 1998, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2011 & 2012.

“We appreciate the hard work that our full time crew puts in at the shop and the track to accomplish our goals to go racing in the ROLEX Series.  It wasn’t our specific focus to be the top entrant, but rather to achieve our goals, which having 3 Mazdas out there certainly allowed us to do.  Additionally, we have some very dedicated and talented weekend warriors on our team, some going all the way back to 1985, whom make the weekends possible.  This achievement of being the Top Entrant really goes to them for their hard effort.” – shared Will Nonnamaker

Another fine mark by Team Sahlen was an amazing 90% finishing mark for the season. An outstanding achievement when one considers the magnitude of entering 31 races in one year.  This figure is equivalent to a full Sprint Cup season

In total Team Sahlen has a grand total of 211 All Time ROLEX Grand American Entries, dating back their 1^st entry in 2003.  This tally is most likely near the top if not the most in the series history.

“It’s hard to believe that we surpassed 200 Entries this past season.  We have really enjoyed competing in both Continental Tire Series and the ROLEX series.  Combined, I think our total is something like 400+ Grand American entries.  That is a lot of races and a lot of prep by our dedicated crew to get those race cars to the track each time.” – shared Wayne Nonnamaker

For 2013, Team Sahlen plans are to evolve into the Daytona Prototype Class with 2 BMW-Rileys.  The #42 & #43 will be fielded in the full 12 race calendar.  This will amount to 24 proposed total entries for the 2013 race season.  This marker is still potentially enough for Team Sahlen to repeat as the Top Entrant Award.
