The WNY Flash controlled the pace of the game creating chances early on. In the 7th minute, #10 Tori Huster sent a ball to #7 Captain McCall Zerboni, who headed it in to put the Flash in the lead.

Shortly after in the 8th minute, the Flash earned a corner kick, taken by Zerboni. #20 Adriana, the Spanish international, kicked it in, but the sideline referee called it off sides. Adriana had another chance in the 21st minute. The forward put away a loose ball in the box unassisted, for her 10th goal of the season, making her the leading scorer in the WPSL Elite. The WNY Flash ended the first half up 2-0.

 

 

The Flash continued to create chances into the second half. After a foul just to the right of the 18 yard box, Zerboni crossed it right in front of the goal. Defender,  #3 Toni Pressley, a member of the USWN-U23 team, gained possession away from ASA’s keeper to score her first goal of the season.

 

 

The Flash rounded out the scoring for the night after midfielder #23 Katy Frierson was fouled in the Charge’s box. A penalty kick was awarded and Zerboni took it to score her second of the evening.

 

 

The WNY Flash versus ASA Chesapeake Charge game was sponsored by Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield, which donated $1 for every fan in attendance, earning more than $2,000 for the charity, Women Helping Girls.

 

 

The next game for the Flash is away playing FC Indiana on Thursday, July 12, at 7 p.m. The WNY Flash is now 7-1-3.

 

The Western New York Flash of the Women’s Premiere Soccer League Elite (WPSL) defeated the ASA Chesapeake Charge 4-0 in front of a crowd of 2,017. The Flash is now third in the standings.
