Wayne Nonnamaker secured his 3rd straight Bob Akin Sportsman Award in the GT class at the ROLEX 24 Hours of Daytona. The prize is awarded to the top Sportsman driver, whom does not make their full time living from driving a race car.
"All three of these awards, dating back to 2010, were when I was driving a Mazda RX-8. The only way you can win this award at Daytona is to have a car that finishes. And the ever reliable RX-8 has brought me to the end of every one of these last three year's events. There are a lot of things that can go wrong in these twice around the clock. Fortunately, these three years have proven uneventful, and I have had a chance to get a lot of laps behind the wheel." - Shared Wayne Nonnamaker
Wayne now leads John Potter in the year long standings for the year end Award of the Bob Akin Sportsman Award. Wayne is the 2011 Recipent of the award, in which he was able to edge out John Potter at the last event.
