< Back to News Home Team Sahlen welcomes Research and Development program with partner MSI Racing Products

Posted (01/18/2012) -

For 2012, Team Sahlen is excited to announce an increased partnership with MSI Racing Products.  For several years, Team Sahlen has been utilizing MSI Racing Products extensive line of wheel studs and lug nuts on their fleet of Mazda RX-8 race cars. And for the coming year, MSI Racing Products and Team Sahlen will be extending that partnership to also include the opportunity to work together to explore and develop new parts that will assist all Sports Car Racing Teams.

“We are so excited about further partnering with MSI Racing Products.  When dealing with Endurance racing, with lots and lots of pit stops, it is vital that the Studs and Lug Nuts do not fail.  The upcoming race at Daytona is a prime example of this.  The race is for 24 Hours, and a failed stud can not only put you out of contention for a win, but also put you out of the race entirely.  Then when you think about the lug nuts, we will make something like 30 pit stops in the race.  You can’t afford to have a cross thread during these circumstances.” - Shared Team Manager Jay Chapman.

In addition to the development program that will occur via this partnership, Team Sahlen will also have MSI Racing Products branding prominently displayed on all 3 Mazda RX-8s.   And as well, MSI Racing Products literature will be available via the Team Sahlen Merchandise display that is set up at each event.

Curtis Goodman of MSI Racing Products shared his thoughts - “This is an exciting adventure for MSI Racing Products.  We are well vested in the NASCAR community.  And we have been making significant strides in becoming involved in the Sports Car Racing world in the past several years.  Partnering with Team Sahlen will provide us with a platform to further extend our knowledge and research base to further enhance the product line that we can provide to both the Professional and Grassroots Sports Car racer.”

MSI Racing Products (www.msiracingproducts.com) is a full service machining facility and manufacturer that utilizes state of the art machinery to provide quality machined components for the racing industry.  Located near Mooresville, North Carolina, in the heart of the NASCAR community, MSI manufactures a product line that has evolved as a result of direct input from some of the industry’s leading teams.
