North Canton, OH -- (by Wayne Nonnamaker) It has been two races since we have last written an installment for this site. At California in March we had a hopeful race. My father Joe and Shane Lewis had a Corvette that could handle and brake with anyone on the track. However late in the race, with Shane in the lead, the car began to lose power.

Our race in the Integras at California was a little more successful. Because of the way the pit stop strategy worked out I got to finish for the first time since last season. I had a great run with the two Miatas in our series. On the last lap our #41 HRPWorld.com Intetgra moved from fourth to second, beating out third place by less than three feet at the finish line.

Since California we have done some development on both the Orison Marketing Planet Earth Motorsports Corvette and the HRPWorld.com #41 and #42 King Motorsports Acura Integra LS's. In addition, we also built the #40 Integra Type R for the Sports Touring I class at the Phoenix race. The crew was very busy, and it was a lot of hard work by Mike Thomas and Trevor Whipple as well as a cast of other part time help to get the cars ready in time.

We were lucky enough to secure the services of Paul and Charlie Menard in the #40 Integra Type R for Phoenix. Charlie has driven with our team before in the past when we were campaigning Mazdas and Paul has been doing some sports car racing lately and even won the Rolex Series American GT class at California.

From the moment the Orison Corvette rolled off the trailer at Phoenix it was quick. In all three practice sessions the Corvette was the fastest car on track. The race started and Joe was turning some very competitive times. At the half hour mark there was a caution flag period when the #70 SpeedSource Porsche hit the wall. Thankfully the driver, Selby Wellman, was unhurt, but it marked the second severely damaged car for SpeedSource this weekend. We wish them luck in getting all their cars back together for the Glen in two months. They should have no problems though. SpeedSource is one of the top notch teams in all of Grand Am.

At the yellow, Joe got out and we put Shane in to finish the last two and a half hours. It was a long time in the heat, but Shane is very fit so it was not a problem. After the final caution with 90 minutes remaining, Doug Goad in the #11 Sunoco Encompass Corvette from Powell Motorsports was just two seconds behind Shane. For the last 90 minutes Shane held Goad at bay and held on for the win.

The win meant more than just another win for us. We have won in the lower horsepower Sports Touring I and Sports Touring II classes, but as a team and as a family we had never won in the high horsepower Grand Sports classes. To be able to even run with the Powell Motorsport effort made us very pleased with the win. The Powell team has won a Championship in the Grand Sport classes four of the last five years.

The entire crew was ecstatic after the race. Crewmembers were jumping up and down, hugging everyone in sight. The drivers were equally excited.

Shane's quotes after the race (and after he caught his breath) : "I am just ecstatic! It is great to be back on the top-step of the victory podium. I knew this Orison Marketing - Planet Earth Corvette could do this, I just didn't know it would be so soon. Everything just worked this weekend. I think Joe and I can get a couple more wins this season. I want to thank Joe and the Orison Marketing team for giving me such a great opportunity. We had some incredible battles out there today and the 11-car never let us rest. Devon and Doug were always right there breathing down our neck. This was about as much fun as you can have in a race car!

"Looking at the time sheets you'd think this weekend was a cake-walk for Joe and I but it was far from it. We definitely had our struggles but we would a
