The final fall test on the 2010 Grand American schedule will occur this week at Homestead Miami Speedway. Team Sahlen will be attending with the #43 and #49 SpeedSource built Mazda RX-8s. Chauffeuring the Mazdas will be drivers Memo Gidley and Wayne Nonnamaker.
At the test, Team Sahlen will be continuing the progress made at the October test at Virginia International Speedway. While at the October test, Team Engineer Catherine Crawford Wallace worked closely with the drivers to come to grips with the new Continental Tires. Now with the significant data that was gained from the test will be utilized to try new set ups to maximize the Tires in conjunction with the Mazda RX-8’s handling preferences.
“We are looking forward to Homestead. The crew has been working very hard to get the cars prepared for the Test. This will be the last test before the January 2011 Roar before the 24 Test at Daytona International Speedway. And hopefully we can gain a few good pieces of set up knowledge that will make that extra difference for next year.” – shared Jay Chapman, Team Manager.
“Beyond getting ready for the ROLEX 24 Hours at Daytona, it will be very nice to get some track time and set up data at Homestead. This is track the 2nd on the 2011 schedule. By getting being here, hopefully we will be even more prepared when we arrive at the track in March, 2011.” – shared Wayne Nonnamaker
