After a fantastic run to 7th place at the ROLEX 24 Hours at Daytona, Team Sahlen is ready to go for the “Sprint Race” at Round 2 - Homestead. Both Mazda RX-8s have been rebuilt after the grueling twice around the clock event. Even the Body work was stripped down and repainted in fresh Team Sahlen colors after getting sandblasted at the high banks at Daytona International Speedway.
“Its odd that a racer would consider a 2 hour and 45 minute race as a “Sprint Race”. But after having just experienced the ROLEX 24 Hours, this will be an all out run from start to finish. And with the race starting at 5 pm, it should make for an exciting race for the fans under the lights.” – states Joe Nonnamaker
Drivers for Team Sahlen will be Joe Sahlen & Will Nonnamaker in the #42 RX-8. Then in the #43 Mazda racer will be the father/son tandem of Joe & Wayne Nonnamaker.
The #42 Mazda did not contest the full ROLEX 24 Hours at Daytona, but it did make a start in the race, chauffeured by Joe Sahlen. This key start provided #42 with 15th place points. These points will be very valuable as the 2010 ROLEX season moves along its 12 event schedule. The goal for Team Sahlen being to place both the #42 and #43 in the Top 10 in GT Points.
The Grand Prix of Miami will be televised live on SPEEDTV on March 6th at 5 pm.
The 2010 Team Sahlen ROLEX & CONTINENTAL Tires Series Campaigns will be supported by Mazda, Mazdaspeed, HRPWorld.com, HAWK Performance, Cool Shirt, Racetech Seats, BBS, Alcon, Mothers Polish, EMCO, TheRaceSite.com, Grassroots Motorsports, Holliday Canopies, Alcon, CM Racing, Genesis Technologies, Endurance Karting, Castrol and SpeedSource Engineering.
