After the December Test Days at Daytona International Speedway, Grand American held a Fan Voting contest on their web site. The contest ask the fans "Which GT Team with a New Car made the best impression at the December Test Days". Listed as potential teams to vote for included: Stevenson Motorsports with their new Chevrolet Camaro, Team Sahlen with our new Mazda RX-8, CORSA Team PR1 and Turner Motorsports with their new BMWs.
With such Big Teams listed in the Voting, Team Sahlen would have their work cut out to win such a Contest. Stevenson Motorsports has been one of the top teams in the GT class for the past 2 years in their Pontiac GXP. CORSA Team PR1 headed the time charts in one of the sessions. And Turner Motorsports has been one of the powerhouses in the KONI Challenge Series for several years.
When the final voting was complete, Team Sahlen was voted by the Fans to have made the Best Impression at the December Test Days.
In fact, over 1 out of 3 fans voted for Team Sahlen.
GT Team Vote
Team Sahlen 39%
Stevenson Motorsports 26%
Corsa Team PR1 18%
Turner Motorsports 17%
"It's fantastic that the fans gave us such a vote of confidence. And to have the vote by such a wide margin really makes a statement to the fans confidence and faith in what is to come for our team in 2010. The crew worked extra hard getting ready for this Test. We even painted and stickered up the #42 just to put on a good show for the fans. So it really great to see that hard work pay off with the fan vote. Now is just a matter of coming back for the January "Roar before the 24" and continue with this trend." - states Team Manager Jay Chapman
