Team Sahlen entered the December ROLEX Test at Daytona International Speedway with great anticipation.  The event would mark the Team's 1^st outing with their newly acquired SpeedSource built Mazda RX-8s.   Not only would the Mazdas present a learning curve for the 4 drivers, but the crew would as well be learning on the spot as well.

The Team Sahlen #42 Mazda RX-8 came to the track painted in the familiar Red, Black and Yellow paint scheme that has come to be familiar to the fans.  The #43 racer was still in flat black colors, with Team Sahlen having just received the RX-8 the week before loading, with little time to paint it.

Will Nonnamaker said he feels Team Sahlen is right where it wants to be after testing its new Mazda RX-8 during this week's test. The team had run a Corvette the past three seasons. Nonnamaker, who along with teammate Joe Sahlen, younger brother Wayne & father Joe were among the fastest on the charts Tuesday, and continued to progress on Wednesday.

"It's better than we can ever imagine it was going to be," Will Nonnamaker said. "We got these cars from SpeedSource, and this has just been a fantastic car. Our goal this year to help Mazda win the manufacturer's championship, so hopefully we can play a big part in winning it this year."

Will's teammate Joe Sahlen was enthusiastic about the Test, "After driving the Mazda RX-8 for just two days, I can already sense that Team Sahlen is poised for a very exciting season in 2010."
