While many competitors in the KONI Challenge series will be working hard to secure season ending championships, Team Sahlen heads into the 4 hour season finale at Virginia International Raceway with hopes of preparing for the 2010 season.
A recent adjustment in the ST Class rules has dramatically changed the dynamics of the RX-8's competitiveness. Included in this rule change was a 50 lb weight break to the RX-8 that Team Sahlen races. To prepare for this adjustment, Team Sahlen recently tested at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course to assess the chassis set up changes that would be required with the 50 lbs less weight
"We had a very successful test at Mid-Ohio. We learned a lot. 50 lbs doesn't sound like much, but it does impact the RX-8 with such a fine tuned balance to begin with. If time permits, we even have some extra things to try out this weekend. Our goal is to be prepared for the 2010 season. And this is the perfect venue to test ourselves against the competition." - states Joe Sahlen
