AFTER
taking the pole for the two hour race Joe Nonnamaker and Bill Pate drove their car to victory over the second place ProtoSport Honda Prelude. Joining Joe & Bill on the podium in third place was Joe's 20 year-old son Wayne Nonnamaker, and new addition to the Planet Earth Motorsports lineup, 18 year-old Ryan Jones.
The weekend was full of intermittent rain, so it was fitting that the race would start in the dry and end in the wet. The wet weather didn't seem to hinder Bill Pate though as he finished the car twenty seconds ahead of second. After Ryan gave Wayne the car in third place Wayne was catching the second place Honda until it started to rain, and Wayne held the gap even until the end of the race. Jamie Tindall and Glen Brown had a good finish in 6th. Will Nonnamaker and Dick Starita brought the car home to a 7th place finish after an uncharacteristic engine problem lost them power.
In the end the race was won in the pits. As Joe Nonnamaker said "We beat the second place Honda by twenty seconds and our pit stop was a minute faster than theirs. We really owe this win to the fast and efficient work of our crew."
