Team Sahlen will be entering this weekend's KONI Challenge Series Street Tuner event with high hopes continuing being the Top Mazda. At the season opener at Daytona, Team Sahlen's #43 Mazda RX-8 finished in 11th place, the top finishing Mazda in the race. With Daytona being a power track, this was a respectable finish. At Homestead, Team Sahlen plans to utilize the handling and braking superiority of the RX-8 to full advantage to crack the Top 5 at the finish. This will be no easy task, as the Street Tuner class continues to have strong 30+ car fields.
"We were able to go out and test the Mazda after Daytona at Kershaw Raceway. This was a fantastic test, as it allowed us to work through several items, including some set up changes that we hope will have a big impact at Homestead." - states Will Nonnamaker
Co-driving with Will Nonnamaker will be Joe Sahlen. Although Joe has raced at Homestead before in the ROLEX series, this event will mark his first event at the track in the KONI series.
"Homestead is a fun track. With the Street Tuner class having its own race, it should be really exciting. Without the Grand Sports class cars out there at the same time, it really changes the dynamic of the race." - states Joe Sahlen
