2009 marks the 3rd year for Team Sahlen campaigning their Corvette ZO6 in the ROLEX 24 Hours at Daytona. In 2007 and 2008, Team Sahlen was the highest placed Corvette in the race. This year, for those Grand American fans who crave the roar of a Corvette at Daytona, Team Sahlen hopes to give those bowtie fanatics something to cheer about with a strong run into the Top 10.
We had a fantastic January Test Days. There were great improvements in speed. The GT class is very competitive, with cars from Mazda, Porsche, Ford, Pontiac and Ferrari. Hopefully the improvements we made will be just the thing to put us up to the front." - states Joe Sahlen
The 2007 ROLEX 24 at Daytona was the first race for Team Sahlen's brand new HRPWorld.com Corvette. Despite little to no track time with the Corvette, Team Sahlen finished a very respectable 20th place in GT.
For the 2008 event, had the unfortunate bad luck to have an early Sunday morning incident with the wall take them out of another Top 20 finish.
"Last year, we had several new car reliability issues that put us in the garage for awhile. Team Sahlen worked hard over the course of the 2008 off season to correct these issues, and we are excited to take on the grueling 24 hour event."
- states team driver Joe Nonnamaker
Drivers for the #42 Corvette will be Joe Sahlen, and Joe, Wayne & Will Nonnamaker.
After the ROLEX 24 at Daytona, Team Sahlen will continue forward with entering 2 HRPWorld.com Corvettes, #43 and #42, in the remaining 12 events of the ROLEX season.
