Team Sahlen heads to the brand new New Jersey Thunderbolt Raceway with an all out approach. Since Team Sahlen's last event at Watkins Glen, a dedicated focus has been put upon several key aspects of the KONI ST Mazda RX-8 to prepare it for the New Jersey event.
The RX-8 has a brand new motor for the weekend. Additionally, a brand new revised front bumper has been installed. And the team has spent some time at local Mid-Ohio testing and tuning.
"We are very excited about this race. It should really suit our Mazda. This is the time of year when many of the KONI ST class competitors will be looking towards the championship. We have none of those worries, so we can go all out and take calculated risks that others may not take. This could be to our advantage. And perhaps we could surprise with a strong top 5 run." - states Will Nonnamaker
Plans are for Joe Sahlen to qualify the #43 Mazda and for Will Nonnamaker to finish the race.
"I am excited to drive this new track. We are entered for Test Day to get that extra early start on the race weekend. This should be a fun weekend. Right after the KONI race ends, we start getting ready for the ROLEX race on Sunday." - states Joe Sahlen
