The Sahlen's 6 Hours at the Glen was a fun time for all the race fans of Western New York. The weekend was action packed with Sahlen''s everywhere you turned.
First there was the Friday press conference announcing the continuation of Sahlen's partnership as presenter of the 6 Hour event at the Glen for another fantastic 3 years.
Then came the autograph session, where Team Sahlen met fans along the paddock row.
Then on Saturday morning, Joe Sahlen visited with the Corner and Safety Workers and handed out Sahlen "The Only Yellow Flag You want to See" T-shirts
On Track, the Team Sahlen Corvettes were coming to grips with the very challenging Watkins Glen course. Constant and continual changes to the setup saw the team secure 6th place in the morning warm up session.
Then at the pre race driver's meeting, Joe Sahlen as well as official starter, Thurman Thomas, and Grand Marshall, Demeris Johnson Spoke. Thomas and Johnson are both former NFL stars on the gridiron.
On pre race grid, selected fans were chosen as honorary row pole holders. Each fan also received a commemorative Sahlen t-shirt.
As the ROLEX race cars came up to start the race, Hall of Fame member Thurman Thomas waved the green flag to start the race.
During the race, Team Sahlen had its ups and downs. As can be expected in a 6 hour event, a lot happened. A brake problem with car #42 led to a DNF. #43 suffered from a fuel pick up issue, that saw the Corvette pit over 20 times for gas. Competitive lap times by Wayne Nonnamaker in the race gave the team hope for the next event ahead; Mid-Ohio.
At the Victory Circle ceremonies, Joe Sahlen assisted in congratulating the winners and handing out the trophies. Then immediately after the ceremonies, the Sahlen Hot Dog eating contest got underway. Making a special appearance at the Contest with Joe Sahlen was Team Sahlen's mascot HOT DOG BOY.
