For those Mid-Ohio race fans who crave the roar of a Corvette; Ohio based Team Sahlen has just the cure. Entering the #43 & #42 HRPWorld.com Corvette, Team Sahlen will be racing for all Corvette fanatics at this weekend's EMCO Gears Classic ROLEX race on Saturday at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
In last year's race at Mid-Ohio, Team Sahlen was running in 3rd place with 15 minutes to go when a flat tire forced the team to pit, forcing the team to settle for 7th. This year, Team Sahlen is back and ready for action again.
"We had some fantastic test sessions this spring and have made great improvements in speed. The GT class is very competitive, with cars from Mazda, Porsche, Ford, Pontiac, Ferrari and BMW. Hopefully the improvements we made will be just the thing to put us up to the front." - states Joe Sahlen
For those fans also attending Sunday's KONI Challenge event, Team Sahlen will provide Ohioans someone to cheer for with their Street Tuner class Mazda RX-8. Last year Team Sahlen's Dodge SRT-4 was running as high as 2nd place until a freak hub failure put them out of the race.
Mid-Ohio is not only the home track for the Nonnnamaker family. Additionally, Team Sahlen's corporate partners Forgeline, HAWK, CORSA and TheRaceSite.com all hail from the Buckeye state.
During the weekend, also keep your eyes peeled for HOT DOG BOY, Team Sahlen's new Official Mascot for 2008. The ROLEX 24 at Daytona was HOT DOG BOY debut appearance. He stood proudly with the #43 Chevrolet Corvette on the pre grid for the twice around the clock event. Fans didn't have a hard time spotting HOT DOG BOY, with his hot dog shaped costume, and flowing red cape, with the famous Sahlen logo on the back.
The 2008 Team Sahlen ROLEX GT Campaign is support by HRPWorld.com, ZIP Products, HAWK Performance, Forgeline Wheels, TheRaceSite.com, TheRaceMarket.com, Grassroots Motorsports Magazine, Holliday Canopies, Alcon, CM Racing, Joe Gibbs Motor Oil, Genesis Technologies, and Corsa Performance.
