Team Sahlen has been the Top finishing Corvette in every event of the 2008 ROLEX GT season. This trend continued at the recent Laguna Seca Raceway round of the Grand American ROLEX GT series. Both Team Sahlen Corvettes finished the race with a solid 13th and 14th place finish.
"After qualifying a very well at a respectable 16th in class, Joe drove a very solid first stint in the race. Unfortunately our pit stop did not go so well. That cost us a few laps in the middle of the race. But once we sorted everything out, our pace was equal to the top 10 runners whom we were side by side with on the track." - states Will Nonnamaker
Finishing just behind the #42 Corvette was the sister team car of Joe & Wayne Nonnamaker in #43. Limited track time during the weekend did not seem to deter the progress of Joe & Wayne as they marched through the field from dead last starting position
"We started dead last, but made great progress during the race. Having 2 cars really was a benefit this weekend, as we were able to apply the set-up changes that the #42 had tried and made work. The same pit stop difficulty that cost #42 problems also caught us out. In the end though, we have a car in one piece and that is great heading into another race in just a short time.
The next race for Team Sahlen will be the Lime Rock Park ROLEX GT event on May 26th. This is only one week after the Laguna race. This will leave little time for the long cross country trek to get from California to Connecticut. The race will be televised live on SPEED Channel on Monday, May 26th at 2 pm EST. This event will mark the one time in 2008 that the GT cars will be the featured class; with the Daytona Prototype cars taking the week off.
