Alex Sahlen returns for her 4th season in Rochester. The veteran defender will be a key cog in the Lady Rhino's 2008 season.
Known for her tough defending and knowledge of the game, Sahlen will work with the new team members to strive for a winning season.
She started 55 career matches as a member of the Niagara University Purple Eagles. Sahlen completed her collegiate career with six goals and 10 assists, placing her 20th on Niagara's All-Time Scoring list. She helped guide the Purple Eagles to their first MAAC Championship appearance in 2003. Upon graduating from Niagara in the spring of 2004, Sahlen returned to her alma mater to accept a coaching position alongside head coach Peter Veltri.
Alex is the daughter of Joe Sahlen, driver of Team Sahlen's ROLEX GT class #42 Corvette Z06 and KONI Series #43 Mazda RX-8. When Alex is not playing or coaching Soccer, you can find her working at the expansive Sahlen Sports Park, located near Buffalo, New York.
The Rochester Rhinos Women's Team opens its season on Friday, May 24th against the Western Mass Lady Pioneers 7:35 p.m. at PAETEC Park.

2006: Member of the Rocherster Raging Rhinos. Started all 12 games and played every minute (1080).

Coaching: Upon graduating from Niagara in the spring of 2004, Sahlen returned to her alma mater to accept a coaching position alongside head coach Peter Veltri. In two seasons, Sahlen as accumulated a 28-10-3 coaching record, in addition to helping Veltri lead the team to two consecutive MAAC Championship appearances, winning the conference title in 2006.
