In 2007, Team Sahlen came within 3 laps of capturing a fantastic 7th place finish. The #43 HRPWorld.com Corvette had used excellent pit strategy to place Wayne Nonnamaker in the lead pack at the end of the Laguna Seca Raceway.
While competitor after competitor dashed to the pits for fuel at the end of the race, Wayne stayed on course, having pitted at a later yellow.
Then with just 3 laps to go, a daring pass by a competitor in the last turn saw Team Sahlen's chances go down in smoke. After the incident, the competitor ended up 20 feet into the gravel trap, and a flattening left rear tire resulted on the #43 HRPWord.com Corvette.
This weekend at Laguna Seca, Team Sahlen enters the ROLEX event with high hopes of avenging that bittersweet ending. The #43 Corvette will be back with Joe & Wayne Nonnamaker looking to reclaim their Top 10 from last year.
"Last year, Laguna was only our 4th event with the Corvettes, and to be in the Top 10 at the end was very encouraging. Now we are a year later in our development and we are really excited to go out there and see how we stack up against the GT field."

Additionally, Team Sahlen will have the dual attack of the #42 Corvette of Joe Sahlen and Will Nonnamaker. After running solidly in the Top 10 at Homestead, the #42 Corvette confirmed their progress with a 7th place finish at the recent Virginia round. This result also netted Team Sahlen with the Sun Trust Most Improved Position Award by advancing 13 positions; 20th to 7th.
"7th place was a great run for us at Virginia. And I feel that we have a great chance at Laguna of improving on that result. I am getting very comfortable in the Corvette. That comes from a year of driving it and the great job the crew is accomplishing in development."
- states Joe Sahlen
