Team Sahlen was in the forefront of Qualifying at the recent Miller Motorsports Park Grand-Am Cup event. In the Grand Sports Class, Wayne Nonnamaker qualified the #43 Porsche 911 in 3rd place. Then in the Street Tuner Class, Will Nonnamaker placed the #41 Dodge SRT4 in 3rd place as well!!
In the race, Wayne catapulted from his 3rd place position to lead the 1st hour of the race, until pitting for gas and driver change
"Miller Motorsports Park, with its 24 turns over 4.5 miles, is a lot of track to learn. We used the test day to learn the track and set up the cars. This seemed to really help us throughout the weekend." - stated Wayne Nonnamaker
Will had a great start when the green flag flew, and led the pack into turn one. This was the first time in the history of Grand-Am Cup that a Dodge had led in either class.
"The whole crew at Team Sahlen has worked persistently throughout the season to fine tune the Dodge. Our 2nd time qualifying in 3rd place shows that improvement. Hopefully the next time at Virginia, we can do a bit better and secure the pole.
- states Team Sahlen Driver - Will Nonnamaker
Team Sahlen will conclude their season at the Grand-Am Cup finale at Virginia on 7th and 8th for the Twin 6 hour endures for GS and ST class cars.
