Posted (08/17/2004) - Petersen Motorsports/ White Lightning Racing driver Craig Stanton will be a special guest on Thursday evening's American Le Mans Series (ALMS) web site chat session. The Long Beach, California driver, and defending GT champion in the Road America 500, will answer questions from chat room participants on the ALMS' official web site, www.americanlemans.com. The 30-minute session will start at 6 pm (EDT), 5 pm (local time) August 19th and is open to all. Stanton will answer questions about anything ranging from his 2003 GT class Road America 500 victory with Petersen/ White Lightning to his four 2004 podium finishes in GT class in the No. 31 Westward Ho Casino/ MMPIE/ PAWS/ Michelin Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. Or queries might be about any of his 23 previous ALMS starts or about his intense physical training routine. The floor is open with no pre-set agenda.

Petersen Motorsports/ White Lightning Racing began operation as an off-road team in the 1980s winning over 50 truck victories, including three-consecutive overall wins at the Baja 1000, and multiple championships. Since entering sports car racing, the effort has scored victories in the ALMS, the Trans-Am Series, Speed Challenge Series and endurance sports car wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (GT class, 2003 and '04), at Watkins Glen and at the Rolex 24 of Daytona. The team has scored podium finishes in four of the six ALMS races held in 2004.

Since moving from moto-cross/super-cross to automobiles in 1986, Stanton has positioned himself as one of the premier drivers in sports car racing. A desire to win in all kinds of machines has led to drives in closed and open cockpit sports cars, sedans, NASCAR stock cars, open wheel formula cars and midgets and in off-road competition. He has won three championships and a Driver of the Year award in Sports Renault and is the 1997 Speedvision Cup Rising Star Award winner. Stanton began competing in the top echelon of sports car racing in 1999 with rides in both the ALMS and USRRC. He takes his fitness training very seriously with the goal of being the fittest race driver in the world and has competed in 27 triathlons in his career.
