TheRaceSite.com recently recognized various talents in the Grand Am Cup. The Phoenix team was recognized for various awards. Below you will read the official release from TheRaceSite.com:
At the end of the 2003 season we asked journalists, participants, and officials to vote for various awards in the Grand Am Cup season. The 2003 awards mark the third consecutive year that TheRaceSite.com has awarded these trophies.
This honor is for the team that put forth the most exciting, eyecatching, and innovative design schemes on their car.
After tabulating all the votes, Planet Earth Motorsports came up the winner for the first time in the three years TheRaceSite.com has been awarding these trophies.
Will Nonnamaker, part owner of the Phoenix ProMotions effort responsible for the Planet Earth Motorports Porsches and the HRPWorld.com Acuras, is the person responsible for the scheme. Will also drove the Acuras to three wins and eight podiums.
"It is an honor that my peers voted this car as the Best Looking Paint Scheme," commented Nonnamaker. "We have had this scheme on Mazdas, Corvettes, and Acuras, but I think the Porsche really brings out the layout."
The Planet Earth scheme will no longer be seen in the Grand Am Cup as the campaign stepped up into the Grand American Rolex Series. The Phoenix ProMotions team will be back to defend their 2003 Grand Sport Championship under the campaign name of TheRaceSite.com Racing.
Past winners of the award include:
2001 Best Paint Scheme = SpeedSource
2002 Best Paint Scheme = SpeedSource / TF Racing
