With the coming season looking like it will be a fully challenging season, we had a great test session at the Daytona Test Days this past weekend.
In the Grand Am Cup the Phoenix ProMotions effort we own will be running three Porsches. My dad and I will be returning to the driver's seat in the #43 car to try to defend out 2003 Grand Sport title. Our biggest challenger will likely come from within our own team. Terry Borcheller will be driving our second Porsche. Terry is one of the best drivers in sportscar racing. An International Driving star, Terry and I raced against each other last season. He is a very fierce competitor and very talented. Running with Terry will be challenge and I am sure I will learn a thing or two from him this season.
Our third car lineup is still coming together and we should have something to announce soon.
In the Rolex Series Will and our dad will be co-driving together. This will be the first season for them to co-drive together for a season. They have some very tough competition as well. With Randy Pobst, Andy Lally, Craig Stanton, David Murry, etc., etc., it will be a very tough class.
Our dad will be driving in two races a weekend this year. The test days helped us realize how much driving that meant for him. It seemed like he was always on track the entire day so this season should provide Joe with all the driving he could want.
We only have three weeks to go until the big race now, and there is so much to do. The cars need a lot of fine tuning and attention to ensure success at the 24 Hours. The logistics of the crew, feeding them, lodging them, etc. are magnified at a 24 Hour race. Thankfully we have a wonderful support staff and everything should be perfectly planned out.
The next time we will be writing a diary will be after the Rolex 24 Hours At Daytona weekend. Hopefully we have some good news to report and hopefully I won't be too tired to type on my computer.
