The Testing at Daytona went very well for the team, with all 5 of the SpeedSource Porsches getting out onto the track.
It was a good weekend of Grand American testing. We used these three days to try a lot of new things, from set-up to endurance testing. - states Mike Thomas - crew chief, Now its just a matter of the team going back and getting fully prepared for the season opener.
At last year's Test Days, the team showed up with just one lone SpeedSource Porsche, that was in multiple shades of yellow, flat black and primer grey. 12 months later, and the team was able to capture the 2003 Grand-Am Cup Grand Sports Team, Driver and Manufacturer titles.
TheRaceSite.com Racing arrived to the test days as the 2003 defending champions. Already the competition is starting to heat up with several competitors putting in good times. At the top of the leader board was the Audi driven by Randy Pobst. 2nd on the charts was the team's #43 SpeedSource Porsche. This is a good indicator to the start of the team's title defense.
ORISON Marketing - Planet Earth Motorsports came to the test days with brand new paint and stickers on the #41 SpeedSource Porsche. The team knew it had a lot to learn, with much of the competition having 2-3 years experience with the GT3 Cup model. After lots of experimenting, learning and set-up enhancements, the team was able to place in the top 5 in the last session on Monday.
It was great to come back here to Daytona. The temperature was 85 degrees down here. Much better than the -6 back home. States Joe Nonnamaker, As a driver, it's just nice to get back behind the wheel of a race car again after the long winter break.
